Carolina's Nutrition Research Institute is actively closing the gap between researchers and the community through its Appetite for Life program, which hosts cooking and science demonstrations, events and interactive lectures that share nutrition research with North Carolinians.
Set to launch in March, the initiative aims to strengthen local governments in North Carolina’s Tier 1 communities by providing scholarships to attend professional development opportunities for their mid- and entry-level public leaders.
Students in an APPLES Service-learning Course called “Autism in Our Communities: An Interdisciplinary Perspective” studied topics related to autism spectrum disorder and completed service projects in partnership with individuals and communities affected by ASD.
