Chancellor Folt will work with the campus community, alumni, governing bodies and many others to develop a plan for the Confederate Monument that will be presented to the Board of Governors by Nov. 15.
University leadership asks the campus community to avoid McCorkle Place on Thursday evening and remain alert as you move about campus.
Folt said she is grateful to the Board of Governors, Chair Harry Smith and President Margaret Spellings for the opportunity to provide a “lawful and lasting path that protects public safety, preserves the monument and its history, and allows the University to focus on its core mission.”
The University provides an update on the rally that drew approximately 100 people to McCorkle Place on Aug. 25.
