University leaders provide an update on spring 2021

We will continue to provide flexibility and options for our community this spring. Students will be invited back to live and learn on campus, though on-campus housing will be reduced with only single-occupancy rooms, and faculty are preparing for both in-person and remote courses.

    Spring calendar and Winter Commencement updates

    The start of the spring semester has been delayed until Jan. 19. Winter Commencement has been postponed with the hope to hold a commencement next spring, which includes spring 2020 and winter 2020 graduates, in addition to our planned spring 2021 graduates.

    Recognizing World Mental Health Day

    In recognition of the stress that Carolina students are experiencing in this unprecedented semester and in observance of World Mental Health Day, UNC-Chapel Hill leaders are recommending that faculty pause instruction on Oct. 9 to allow for a three-day weekend.

    Join us virtually for Kevin M. Guskiewicz’s installation

    The COVID-19 pandemic has forced adjustments to any number of Carolina traditions in 2020, and that will include University Day in October. In a historic event, Kevin Guskiewicz will be formally installed Carolina's 12th chancellor on Sunday, Oct. 11. The ceremony can be viewed at installation.unc.edu.
