UNC-Chapel Hill graduate programs ranked among best in nation
U.S. News & World Report's 2025 “Best Graduate Schools” list names multiple Carolina graduate degree programs in the Top 10.

Numerous UNC-Chapel Hill graduate programs received high rankings — 24 were among the top 10 in the nation in their respective categories — as part of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools” list.
The Gillings School of Global Public Health was tied for second out of 219 schools and programs of public health in the U.S. This is the eighth consecutive rankings period the school has been ranked second. Gillings has also maintained its position as the top public school of public health and has been ranked among the top schools and programs of public health by U.S. News since the magazine first ranked public health schools in 1987.
The School of Information and Library Science ranked third overall, including six specialty programs in the top 10.
The School of Law improved two spots to 18th out of 195 law schools, its highest ranking since U.S. News & World Report began ranking law schools in 1987. This also marks the second consecutive time the law school has reached the top 20. The school is ranked fourth among public law schools.
The School of Medicine rose to Tier 1 status in both Primary Care and Research this year with seven specialty programs ranked in the top 10.

The new Graduate School rankings include:
- Audiology tied for first among public institutions and tied for second overall.
- Speech Language Pathology ranked third in master’s programs among public institutions and tied for fifth overall.
- Sociology tied for fourth in master’s programs among public institutions and tied for ninth overall.
- School of Nursing ranked sixth in master’s programs among public institutions and tied for 12th overall.
- Physical Therapy ranked sixth for doctoral programs among public institutions and tied for 10th overall.
- Political Science ranked fifth for doctoral programs among public institutions and tied for 15th overall.
- History ranked fourth for doctoral programs among public institutions and tied for 13th overall.
